What I Use & Recommend
The tools I use to build websites, run client projects, and automate my workflow — plus tools I recommend for small businesses and freelancers.
Tools I Actually Use
Everything below is part of my day-to-day workflow. I use these on real client projects and my own builds.
Web Development
The world's most popular content management system, powering over 40% of the web. I use it for most client websites because it's flexible, well-supported, and easy for clients to update themselves without touching code.
The e-commerce plugin that turns a WordPress site into a full online store. Handles products, categories, payments, shipping, and order management — what I use whenever a client needs to sell online.
The React framework I use for all custom-coded websites and web apps. Handles routing, server rendering, and performance optimization out of the box, so I can focus on building features instead of infrastructure.
The JavaScript library behind Next.js and most modern web interfaces. Used for anything interactive — dashboards, forms, animations, and dynamic content. The foundation for all my custom builds.
A utility-first CSS framework that lets me style everything directly in the markup. Faster to write than traditional CSS, easier to maintain, and produces smaller stylesheets. Used on every custom project.
JavaScript with types. Catches errors before they reach production, makes larger codebases easier to refactor, and gives better autocomplete in the editor. Standard on all my Next.js projects.
Backend & Deployment
An open-source backend that provides a database, authentication, file storage, and real-time features out of the box. Powers LinkFilo, GridLeap, and Qovila. Saves weeks of backend setup on every project.
Where all my custom-coded sites live. Zero-config hosting on a global CDN with automatic SSL, preview deployments for every git push, and instant rollbacks. The fastest way to ship a Next.js site.
Where all my code lives, versions, and ships from. Also runs my Gmail AI Assistant automation through GitHub Actions. The foundation of how I develop, deploy, and automate everything.
AI & Automation
My daily driver for writing, research, debugging, and coding help. Used for everything from client emails to complex problem-solving. The tool I open the most often during a workday.
Anthropic's AI assistant, used for long-form writing, code review, and reasoning-heavy tasks. Sometimes produces more thoughtful output than ChatGPT on complex problems — worth having both available.
Google's AI model, and the intelligence layer behind my automation workflows. Powers the Gmail Assistant that classifies emails, applies labels, and generates draft replies — running free in the cloud.
GitHub's built-in automation platform. Runs my Gmail AI Assistant on a schedule, entirely in the cloud — no VPS, no server, no paid automation tool. Free for personal use and reliable.
An AI coding agent that lives inside VS Code. Reads your project, writes code, runs tests, and handles multi-file changes. Used for bigger refactors and for speeding up development on unfamiliar codebases.
Google's AI-powered code editor for agent-driven development. Different workflow from Cline — more editor-integrated, less chat-driven. Used as a second AI coding environment.
AI text-to-speech with the most natural voices available. Used for voiceovers, audio versions of content, and any project that needs high-quality synthetic speech. The quality is noticeably better than alternatives.
Email infrastructure built for AI agents and apps. Lets programs send and receive email programmatically — useful for automations that need their own inbox rather than routing through a personal Gmail account.
An AI chatbot you can train on your own website content. I use it on client sites to handle common customer questions — product info, policies, availability — without a human having to reply. Setup takes minutes.
Utilities & Design
Quick design tool for social media graphics, presentations, marketing visuals, and simple branding assets. Not a replacement for Figma, but great for fast, non-technical design work when you need it done in minutes.
Screen recording and screenshot tool with shareable links, annotations, and cloud storage. Used for client walkthroughs, bug reports, and documentation. The shareable-link feature saves back-and-forth over files.
Microsoft's free, extensible code editor. Where I write every line of code, with extensions for Next.js, Tailwind, TypeScript, and AI tools like Cline. Fast, stable, and endlessly customizable.
Tools I Recommend
These aren't in my daily stack, but they're what I'd suggest when a client or friend needs a specific solution.
Web Hosting
Budget-friendly WordPress hosting with fast setup and a clean admin panel. The best value option for first-time site owners.
Premium WordPress hosting with excellent support and reliable performance. Worth the extra cost for business-critical sites.
Managed WordPress hosting built for performance and scale. Ideal for high-traffic sites that can't afford downtime.
Cloud hosting with more control than shared hosting, more affordable than managed WordPress. Best for developers.
Website Builders
All-in-one builder for beautiful sites with zero technical setup. The easiest path to a polished site without hiring a developer.
The easiest drag-and-drop website builder for beginners. Best when you want a site live this week and don't need custom features.
A designer-first website builder with full visual control. Steeper learning curve but more powerful once you know it.
